Opening Prompt
Tell me what you learned about God this week?
Let me share with you what I learned about God this week…
Focus: God’s love is not measured, it’s experienced. Our prayer is for others to experience the depth, width, length, and height of God’s love.
Read this Scripture with your family:
17”…that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
Ephesians 3:17-19
Talk about this devotional thought:
Spending time with God, or being rooted in him, is essential to understanding more about his love. As we spend time with God in his Word, our understanding of his love increases. Based on Scripture, we should pray that God’s Spirit will help us grow to understand his love more and show his love to others.
The amazing part is, as we study more about God’s love, we will see his loving kindness, gentleness, and patience also grow in our own lives. His love fills us up and begins to overflow to those around us.
Questions to Ask
(Tip for parents: Let kids answer freely. There’s no rush to correct everything. The goal is conversation, not perfection.)
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for your incredible, unending, unconditional love for us. Help us grow in our understanding of your love, and help us model and tell about your love to those around us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Monthly Memory Verse
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
