Opening Prompt

Tell me what you learned about God this week?

Let me share with you what I learned about God this week…

Focus: The mystery of the gospel is the mission of the church.

  • Tell: Share your testimony, mentioning any key people who helped you learn more about the Gospel.
  • Share: Talking to others can be challenging at times and sharing the Gospel may feel intimidating. Maybe you worry about what to say or how you will say it; but the incredible part of following Jesus is that God helps believers in the church share the Gospel. We are not alone. God guides us, giving us confidence, and working in the hearts of those who hear the Gospel.
  • Ask: Have you ever heard someone share the Gospel? Or have you been able to share the Gospel?

Read this Scripture with your family:

7 “Of this gospel I was made a minister according to the gift of God’s grace, which was given me by the working of his power. 8 To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in[b] God, who created all things, 10 so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. 11 This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him.”

Ephesians 3:7-12

Talk about this devotional thought:

The Gospel is for everyone. Everyone, who places their faith in Christ will become part of God’s family and have a relationship with God through Jesus. Having a relationship with God, gives us understanding and boldness to tell others about him. As a church, our mission is to help others learn more about Jesus and the amazing gift of salvation.

God, in his abundant grace and kindness, strengthens and emboldens believers to share the Gospel. Despite our own limitations, we can rest in the fact that God will work in the hearts of those who do not know him as we share the Good News.

Questions to Ask

  • What are some first steps you can take to tell others about Jesus?
  • Do you know someone you can invite to church?
  • How should you respond if someone says they are not interested in hearing about your faith?
  • Who is someone we can pray for each day that does not know Jesus?

(Tip for parents: Let kids answer freely. There’s no rush to correct everything. The goal is conversation, not perfection.)

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for the Gospel of Christ. Thank you for your love and presence. Help us be bold to share our faith with those around us. Give us opportunities and help us tell others about the hope that we have in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Monthly Memory Verse

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

 — Ephesians 2:10
