Opening Prompt

Tell me what you learned about God this week?

Let me share with you what I learned about God this week…

Focus: Our bodies belong to God, and we honor Him by how we use them.

  • Tell: Tell your kids about a time you chose to honor God; maybe by helping someone, using kind words, or walking away from something unwise.
  • Share: Share how remembering that your body is a gift from God helped you make a good choice.
  • Ask: What’s one way you can honor God with your body today?

Read this Scripture with your family:

“Flee from sexual immorality… Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”

1 Corinthians 6:18–20

Talk about this devotional thought:

Paul teaches us something really important: God made our bodies, and He cares about how we use them.
A simple way for kids to understand this is to imagine something really special they take care of like a toy, a pet, or a favorite book. You protect it, take care of it, and use it the right way.

God says our bodies are even more special — so special that His Holy Spirit lives inside of us! That means:

  • We use our hands to help, not hurt.
  • We use our feet to go to good places, not bad ones.
  • We use our mouths for truth, kindness, and encouragement.
  • We use our minds to think about things that honor God.

Because Jesus paid a great price to rescue us, we want to take care of the bodies He’s given us and use them in ways that make Him proud.

Questions to Ask

  • What does it mean that your body is a “temple of the Holy Spirit”?
  • How can we take care of the bodies God gave us?
  • What are good things we can do with our hands, mouths, feet, and minds?
  • What’s one choice you can make this week to glorify God with your body?

(Tip for parents: Let kids answer freely. There’s no rush to correct everything. The goal is conversation, not perfection.)

Prayer

Pray this simple prayer together:

“God, thank You for giving us our bodies. Help us use them in ways that honor You. Help our hands, feet, words, and thoughts glorify You today.”

Monthly Memory Verse

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”
