Opening Prompt

Tell me what you learned about God this week?

Let me share with you what I learned about God this week…

Focus: God made every part of us on purpose, and He never makes mistakes.

  • Tell: Tell your kids about a moment when you realized God made you exactly how He wanted. Some examples may be your personality, a talent, or even something you used to think was a weakness.
  • Share: Share how knowing God created you helps you feel loved and confident.
  • Ask: What is something about the way God made you that you are thankful for?

Read this Scripture with your family:

“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” Psalm 139:13-16

Talk about this devotional thought:

David, who wrote this Psalm, realized something incredible: God isn’t just a far-away creator who made the world and walked away. God is like a master artist or a careful builder who paid attention to every single detail when He made you.

The Bible says God “knitted” you together. Think about how careful someone has to be when they are knitting a sweater so they don’t drop a stitch. God was even more careful with you! Kids can understand this by looking at themselves:

  • God picked your eye color and your hair texture.
  • God gave you the laugh that belongs only to you.
  • God knew what talents you would have and what subjects you would like in school.

You are “wonderfully made.” That means you aren’t an accident. God knew you and loved you before you were even born. When you look in the mirror, you are looking at one of God’s amazing works of art.

Questions to Ask

  • What is one thing about the way you look or act that is unique to you?
  • How does it feel to know that God was thinking about you before you were born?
  • Since God made other people “wonderfully” too, how should we treat someone who looks or acts differently than us?

(Tip for parents: Let kids answer freely. There’s no rush to correct everything. The goal is conversation, not perfection.)

Prayer

Each day this week, pray this short prayer together:

“Dear God, thank You for making me exactly who I am. Help me to remember that I am wonderfully made by You, and help me to see other people as Your wonderful creations too.”

Monthly Memory Verse

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”

Romans 12:1
