About
the Men's Conference

Life in a world like ours encourages compromise. Satan tempts us to give up the fight, give ground to sin, and give in to temptation. God has a different call for Christian men. God calls us to Stand Firm. In the Bible, God commands Christians 17 times to stand firm!

Stand firm. Hold the line. Don’t give an inch. How would your life be different if in all the places you were giving in, you decided to stand firm?

How would your life be different if you decided to stand firm in all the places you were giving in?

Join us for the 2024 Carolina Men’s Conference as we learn to Stand Firm!

It has been my honor to serve at Lake Bowen Baptist Church since August 6th, 2017. It’s been some of the sweetest years of serving Jesus since surrendering to His call to enter the ministry back in 1994. Not long after coming to Lake Bowen, God impressed on my heart the mission statement of ‘Deliver the Gospel, Disciple the Christian, and Deploy the Christ Follower.’ Not only seeing people coming to faith in Christ as we deliver the good news of His Gospel, but also seeing people taking their next steps as disciples who deploy themselves into their circles of influence, helps me to know that I am exactly where God wants me to be.

The Apostle John stated in 3 John 1:4 that he had “no greater joy than to hear that his (spiritual) children were walking in the truth.” I have come to understand John’s heart when he made that statement since coming to be the Senior Pastor here at Lake Bowen. My heart and life have been truly blessed during the time that I have served The Lord with this precious church body.

While born in Dothan, AL, Wayne Bray spent most of his life in Georgia, where his dad pastored churches for 40 years. Wayne, and his wife of 27 years, Amy, have 5 children between the ages of 13 and 25.

Wayne and Amy spent the first 15 years of marriage attending college and seminary, earning 8 degrees collectively. That season ended when Wayne completed his Doctorate in Leadership from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2010.

For the first 20 years of ministry, Dr. Bray served small to medium-sized churches, both rural and suburban, in Georgia and Louisiana. Then in 2015, God brought the Brays to First Baptist Simpsonville. God has richly blessed the church over the years, but they have experienced much recent growth. First Baptist Simpsonville / Upstate Church now has 7,000 members who gather in 15 distinct worship services across 6 different campuses.

Dr. Bray has authored several books, including Inside Out: Christian Hope in a World of Contradiction – Rainer Publishing (2019). In addition to serving as Lead Pastor at FBS/UC, Wayne enjoys teaching as Adjunct Faculty at Anderson University, and recently served as the President of the South Carolina Baptist Convention.
