This fall, we have many opportunities to participate in Equipping U groups.
We desire to be a church that truly encounters God — not just on Sundays, but in the everyday rhythms of life. One of the ways we want to help you experience that is by guiding you into a deeper, more intentional walk with Him. Presence Pathway is a six-week journey designed to help you learn how to seek God, hear His voice, and enjoy His presence daily. Each week provides clear prompts, Scripture readings, guided prayers, and simple practices to help you grow in your awareness and experience of God. You won’t be overwhelmed — this pathway is built to be approachable, practical, and deeply meaningful.
Two Ways to Participate:
• Join an Equipping U Class and walk through this with others in community.
• Or follow along online, with weekly videos and resources to guide you from home or on your schedule. See below for resources.
If you’ve ever longed to draw closer to God but haven’t known where to start — this is your starting place. Let’s pursue His presence together.
Saturday mornings at 7:00 am at the Mauldin Campus, work through Bruce Wilkinson’s Leading a Company for Christ. This group is designed to help business leaders integrate their faith into their strategic and operational lives, offering accountability and intentional connection amongst similar peers.
In a culture filled with confusion about masculinity, God’s Word gives a clear and compelling vision for manhood. This Equipping U class is designed to help men grow into the kind of leaders, husbands, fathers, friends, and disciples God has called them to be. Through biblical teaching and practical application, we’ll explore themes such as identity, submission, humility, responsibility, mission, and service—helping men live with strength, character, and purpose for the glory of God.
Upstate Church’s two-year Encounter initiative invites people to pray expectantly, live in God’s presence, and walk in His power. Rather than adding activities, it seeks to reshape the church’s culture by deepening dependence on God. This guide helps participants slow down, engage Scripture, and respond intentionally, positioning themselves to meet with God. Through 40 devotionals in the Gospel of John—five days a week—participants will prepare for Encounter Week alongside weekly classes or videos.
To encounter God, we must set aside our assumptions and seek the eternal, holy, sovereign, and present God revealed in Scripture. As we explore John 1–3, we come face to face with Jesus, the eternal Word, and the reality of who God truly is.
God pursues and rescues sinful people through Jesus, offering salvation by grace rather than through human effort, morality, or religious performance. In John 4–6, Jesus draws near to outsiders, heals the broken, feeds the hungry, and reveals Himself as the Bread of Life.
God is neither distant nor silent; He reveals Himself through creation, Scripture, and ultimately Jesus Christ, calling His people to listen with intention and expectancy. In John 7–9, Jesus speaks truth, gives sight to the blind, and declares Himself the Light of the World.
Encountering God transforms us as we intentionally pursue deeper fellowship with Him—not to earn His presence, but to respond to the access we already have through Christ. In John 10–12, the Good Shepherd, Lazarus, and Mary of Bethany reveal postures of trust, responsiveness, and wholehearted devotion that position us to encounter Jesus more deeply.
True revival begins within, as the Spirit awakens God’s people to His beauty and renews their worship, reverence, and love for Him. In John 13–15, Jesus models humble service, reveals Himself as the way, truth, and life, and calls His followers to abide deeply in Him.
True revival flows inward as the Holy Spirit brings conviction, repentance, and lasting transformation, conforming believers to Christ in freedom and holiness. In John 16–18, Jesus promises the convicting Spirit, prays for His followers, and demonstrates complete surrender in Gethsemane, inviting us to open our hearts to God’s transforming work.
True revival flows outward as those transformed by God’s glory and grace are compelled to proclaim the gospel and make Him known. In John 19–21, the cross inspires gratitude and worship, while the risen Jesus restores and sends His followers to share His life-changing message.
